Sukhna Wetland in Chandigarh Designated a Ramsar Site
Sukhna Wetland in Chandigarh has been designated a Ramsar Site, recognising its international ecological importance. The Ramsar Convention promotes wetland conservation and wise use. Sukhna Lake supports biodiversity, groundwater recharge, flood control and climate regulation. Effective conservation requires pollution control, catchment restoration, encroachment prevention, scientific monitoring and community participation.
